Chiricahua Desert Museum
Welcome! The Chiricahua Desert Museum (CDM) will be hosting an official book signing of the Rattlesnakes of Arizona to commemorate the hard work and many years of dedication by the editors and authors of this large 2-volume set. It is also a celebration of the wonderful animals the book portrays.
The origin of this project dates to the early 2000s. Bob Ashley and Tell Hicks envisioned a simpler and smaller book than the 2-volume product seen today. But, after a chance meeting in November 2011, Gordon Schuett and Bob discussed a new and ambitious direction. And with that change, work on the project began immediately. Five years later, Rattlesnakes of Arizona made its debut in spring 2016.
To acknowledge and celebrate this achievement, the Chiricahua Desert Museum will be hosting a formal book-signing on October 19-20, 2018. Friday will be the meet-and-greet and icebreaker. On Saturday the CDM will host a mini-symposium on rattlesnakes, featuring Dr. Bayard H. Brattstrom (Foreword author), who will deliver the keynote, and other authors of the book. Dr. Gordon W. Schuett and the other editors and authors will be available for signing books. Dinner will close the festivities.
Please make room in your schedule this fall to join us for this special celebration. The Chiricahua Desert Museum will have Rattlesnakes of Arizona, many other natural history books, Tell’s original art, and other items available for sale at this event.
